FAQS ABOUT PVC FOAM BOARD PRODUCTION

There are variety of problems in PVC Foam board production currently, they will affect the quality of the products. For example: screw clearance, temperature, die clearance, water crust, die type, etc. Gihug technical department has sorted out the following methods through years of industry experience: Common problems and solutions in the PVC foam board production for your reference.

Q:Yellow on the board surface

A:   Lack of Stabilizer, increase the amount of stabilizer.

      Lack of external lubricant and high friction cause the material decomposition, increase the amount of external lubricant.

      Set temperature is too high, lower the temperature.

 

Q:Yellow in the middle part of the board surface.

A:   Local temperature of the mould is high, lower the corresponding temperature.

      Lack of external lubricant, increase the amount of external lubricant.

      Temperature of the 5th zone of extruder is high, lower the temperature of 5th zone.

 

Q:BOARD THICKNESS IS NONUNIFORM.

A:   The clearance of die lip is improperly, readjust the clearance of die lip.

      Choke block is adjusted improperly, readjust the choke block.

      External lubricant is too much, reduce the amount of external lubricant.

      Lack of internal lubricant, increase the amount of internal lubricant.

      Set temperature of the mould is improperly, readjust the mould temperature.

 

 

Q:The board is brittle.

 

A:   Extruder temperature is too high or too low, readjust the extruder temperature.

      The formula is improperly, readjust the formula.

 

 

Q:The board or sheet surface is rough,not smooth.

 

A:   Lack of external lubricant, increase the amount of external lubricant.

      Lack of corresponding processing aids, increase the amount of corresponding processing aids.

      Fillers and processing aids are insufficient dispersed, ??????

      The mould temperature is too low, increase the mould temperature.

      The temperatures of mould and extruder are improperly, readjust the temperature of them.

 

 

Q:There are stripes perpendicular to the extrusion direction. 

 

A:   The viscosity of the foaming regulator is too high, change the the foaming regulator model.

      The mould and extruder temperatures are too low, increase the temperatures.

      The drawing speed is too high, lower the drawing speed.

 

 

Q:There are larde bubbles inside the board.

 

A:   Insufficient melt strength, increase the amount of foam regulator

      The 5th zone’s temperature of extruder or the local temperature is too high, lower the corresponding temperature.

      The raw meterial is impure, change to pure raw material.

      There is massive recycled material, remill the recycled material.

      The screw is worn, replace with a new screw.

 

 

Q:THE BOARD IS BENT (FREE FOAM).

 

A:   The temperature of three roller is improperly, readjust the temperature of three roller.

      The temperature difference in the plant is too large, or the air convection is too fast, improve the plant environment.

 

 

Q:FOAM BOARD WITH LARGE CELL SIZE.

 

A:   The extruder temperature is high, lower the extruder temperature.

      Lack of foaming regulator, increase the amount of foaming regulator.

      The lubrication system is improperly, readjust the different lubricants ratio.

 

 

Q:THE BOARD THICKNESS IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND THE BOARD MOVES BACK AND FORTH.

 

A:   The external lubricant is too much, reduce the amount of external lubricant.

      The mould temperature is unstable, improve the control accuracy of the temperature.

      The screw is worn, replace with a new screw.

 

 

Q:THE CELL SIZE OF BOARD CORE IS LARGE, WHILE THE CELL SIZE OF THE BOARD SURFACE IS SMALL.

 

A:   The extruder temperature is high, lower the extruder temperature.

      The lubrication system is improperly, readjust the different lubricants ratio.

      Insufficient melt strength, increase the amount of the foaming regulator.
